A view of Buckingham Palace from St. James Park in London. Buckingham Palace was purchased and extended by King George III. Under King George IV it was further extended and embellished, St James Park was also landscaped. (Overspending on the project led to a major scandal, Nash was sacked as the architect, and the project was completed by an architect known as 'Blore the Bore', who, if not notably inspired, was able to control costs). The Facade that is its best known face was added in the reign of Queen Victoria, and reworked in 1912 by Sir Aston Webb, who was responsible for the overall redesign of the area as a memorial to Queen Victoria. Despite having been created by many different hands I think this is the best view of the Palace.
As the main facade faces East this makes Buckingham Palace a 'morning' subject; I took this photo at around 7:30 AM (British Summer Time). The morning was very fine, but it didn't last, you can see clouds coming in from the west and the day soon went cloudy.
