This is a view of Hammersmith Mall at high tide; with the water and the low sun creating these reflections it looks as though it's really a small port or a fishing village rather than a central London borough.
New Year's Day 2006 was pretty miserable, it didn't actually rain but the day was overcast and cold. However, around 3:00 pm it looked as though there might be a clearance, I hung around and very slowly the clouds cleared to let a very low winter sun come through. This resulted in a set of images of the area around Hammersmith Mall and Bridge that I've always thought to be the best I've ever taken.
I've never seen as good a light in this area since, although it's not been for the want of trying. In addition to the light you also need the tide to be high; it's not such a very common combination!
