The impressive central hall of the Natural History Museum in London. I had to wait a fair bit for the stairs to clear, but I just couldn't fit the tripod on that tight spot. So pushed the ISO up to 1000 and took 3 exposures handheld. I then manually blended them together to avoid the noise of an HDR.
The second shutter release on the new battery pack for my D300 came in handy for this portrait shot.
P.S. For those commenting this as a fisheye shot, that's actually the natural shape of the arches in the hall, no fisheye used!

What magnificent composition Sergio. I love
the portrait view the symmetry is so very
special. I don't think you cropped it so good
on you for getting it so perfect.
The exposure is fantastic and shows the
interior of the museum off at it's very best.
A very Happy New Year to you and all you
loved ones :))Please post

17 Декабрь 2009, 07:23 Kels Viewfinder Great looking composition. The perspective of the shot compliment the all the lines of the architecture, I also like how you've captured the staircases in the foreground and background.

this is fabulous -- great work blending.
1000 would've been awful on an HDR.
21 Декабрь 2009, 06:45 Digit@l Exposure II Straight away I was asking myself how you managed to capture the stairs without any people on them ;-)I would try the HDR nonetheless, you might be surprised! at the noise handling of the D300 and you could always use noise removal software. Blending manually doesn't give you the same 'oomph' as using HDR software that looks at every single pixel, which is what I am missing here, although the image in itself is of course really nice!
